• UNITED GO 5 POINTS CLEAR AS CHELSEA WERE HELD AT HOME

Chelsea dropped 2 vital points in the title race when they were held to a 1-1 draw against Wigan Athletic at Stamford Bridge last night. The draw against Wigan gave United a lead of 5 points which would be tough for Chelsea to crack down.

The first half from Chelsea was pathetic to the point they were booed by their own fans. Grant them brought on Joe Cole who seemed to be the galvanizing factor in their performance. He was the architect when Michael Essien scored in the 55th minute giving Chelsea the lead. Chelsea would have thought of victory when Petr Chech pulled off a superb save to deny Wigan substitute Antoine Sibierski. But the joy lasted only few minutes as in injury time Heskey volleyed home a cross from substitute Jason Koumas to leave the gap at the top looking almost too wide for Chelsea to close.

Chelsea next face Everton away on Thursday and if they lose this and provided we win our game against Blackburn who earlier had lost 3-1 to Liverpool, could find themselves 8 point behind United before the title deciding clash at Stamford Bridge on 26th April.
